As part of the Hungarian delegation, a professor at IAS, István Stumpf, PhD took part on the “New Frontiers, Democracy, Economy, Technology, Foreign Policy” plenary session of the Trilateral Commission convened in Washington D.C. The Commission is a nongovernmental international organization aimed at fostering closer cooperation between Japan, Western Europe and North America. In line with that, the first day of the event was devoted to renowned opinion-leaders like Fareed Zakaria, Carl Bildt, Ian Bremmer, and Meghan O’ Sullivan. The debate on challenges of the new world order were followed by the exploration of ways to address the economic downturn, and the anticipated ramifications of the Russia-Ukraine war for the transatlantic security and the global economy. The second day focused on the future of capitalism, the threat of pandemics, and the growing role of the Asia-Pacific region.
